The person and work of Jesus is central in all we preach, how we live, and what we pursue. The good news of the Gospel informs, shapes, and compels us.
1 Corinthians 15:1-5, Ephesians 2:1-10, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, 1 Corinthians 2:2
We have been reconciled to God through Jesus, and He calls us to participate with Him in His mission as reconcilers. This means we are ambassadors for Jesus right where we are, living as everyday missionaries in our schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces.
1 Peter 3:15, Romans 1:16, John 20:21, 1 Corinthians 9:19-23, Romans 10:8-15
We are deeply committed to Salem and its people. We endeavor to understand and relate to the culture around us in order to meet the needs of our community in ways that leave a transformative and lasting impact.
2 Corinthians 5:11-20, 1 John 4:7-21, Acts 17:16-34
We are committed to walking alongside one another in grace-filled, sacrificial community. In the process of loving, learning and growing together as we follow Jesus, we inspire one another toward Christ-likeness in the everyday stuff of life.
Matthew 28:18-20, Ephesians 4:11-16, Colossians 3:12-17
In the process of loving, learning and growing together as we follow Jesus, we inspire one another toward Christ-likeness in the everyday stuff of life.
We aim to radically shift misconceptions of the local church toward a real understanding of the gospel of grace. Without compromising our deeply held beliefs, we will use any means reasonable to reach as many as possible.
Ultimately, the message of Jesus is unsettling to believers and unbelievers alike, calling us all from self-reliant complacency to selfless dependence in following Him.
We are intentionally and wonderfully made in the image of God. Each of us has a story and a set of unique gifts and passions that, when brought together, make an undeniable impact on those around us.
To communicate the truths of the salvation we have received, we craft environments and opportunities that are timeless, yet relevant; excellent, yet infused with vulnerability and authenticity.
We are not content with status quo. Jesus didn’t die so that we could have some religion in our lives. He calls us to love Him with head, heart, and hands.
We will not be satisfied until we are a church known for our radical devotion to Christ, tireless dedication to service, and an eagerness to see every person transformed by faith in Him.
We aim to radically shift misconceptions of the local church toward a real understanding of the gospel of grace.
We envision a church where...
…many people are regularly repenting of sin, confessing Jesus as Lord, and being baptized.
…non-believers, nominal-believers and “nones” feel welcome in our gatherings and in our homes.
…we are known for passionate worship – our gatherings our known for excellent quality and unbridled enthusiasm for God.
…we are known for our generosity – our people have a reputation for regularly and sacrificially giving of their time and resources.
…we have “adopted” several area schools in our community that are in desperate need of outside help. We mentor kids, meet needs, and provide for school-based functions.
…we are constantly thinking of ways to apply the Gospel to ourselves, our families, our businesses, and our community.
…we are known for serving our city and are called upon often to meet needs in a variety of contexts.
…stories of God’s faithfulness are regularly being shared and celebrated.
…our people are always looking for opportunities to help their neighbors.
…we are known for fighting injustice against all people.
…our people feel confident that Outward is a safe place to struggle through addictions, work through marital problems, and get help with financial and parenting challenges.
…mature disciples are being formed and reproduced throughout the life of our church.
