Baptism is a public declaration of faith for the individual who has received Christ’s saving work and become His disciple. Believers are baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Baptism by immersion follows Christ’s example (Mark 1:9-13), is an act of obedience (Matthew 28:18-20), and is a testimony of faith to oneself, the church and God.
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.Romans 6:4 (ESV)
